Getting to and from Narita

Getting to your hotel depends on the property — that's covered on each hotel page. Getting onward into the city works the same for every Narita hotel:

TrainKeisei Skyliner
Narita T1 / T2·3 → Nippori → Keisei-Ueno, reserved seating — Approx. 36 min to Nippori, 41 min to Keisei-Ueno; IC card slightly cheaper. The fastest route into the city, dedicated luggage space in every car. Reserve at ticket counters, machines or online. Source: keisei.co.jp (directly verified).
Duration36–41 min
Priceapprox. ¥2,470
TrainKeisei Access Express / Local
Narita → Nippori/Ueno, Asakusa, Shimbashi, Shinagawa (unreserved) — ¥1,240 to Nippori/Ueno, up to ¥1,520 to Shinagawa. A cheaper, no-reservation alternative at roughly half the Skyliner fare. Source: keisei.co.jp (directly verified).
Durationlonger than Skyliner
Pricefrom ¥1,240
TrainJR Narita Express (N’EX)
Narita → Tokyo Station → Shinjuku/Shibuya/Ikebukuro or Shinagawa/Yokohama — All-reserved, travel time depends on destination (Tokyo/Shinjuku/Shibuya/Ikebukuro). A dedicated, lockable large-luggage area per car (limited, first come first served). A discounted round-trip ticket exists for tourists with a passport. Fares via search sources, not directly verified on jreast.co.jp (page blocked access) — double-check before publishing as hard figures.
Durationapprox. 55–90 min
Priceapprox. ¥3,070–3,250
BusNarita Limousine Bus
Narita → Tokyo Station and numerous hotels/destinations in central Tokyo — To Tokyo Station, notably longer than the train. Handy with a lot of luggage (under-floor hold, no stairs or transfers), though not every line is walk-up only. Fare via search source, official page blocked direct access — double-check before publishing.
Durationdepends on traffic
Priceapprox. ¥3,100
TaxiTaxi
Narita → central Tokyo — Plus tolls, highly variable, no official fixed-fare source found. Only worth it for planned late arrivals/departures — Narita is notably farther from central Tokyo than Haneda. Use only official taxi stands (green license plates); avoid anyone soliciting you directly in the terminal.
Durationapprox. 60–90 min
Priceapprox. ¥21,000–30,000
IC card (Suica/PASMO)

Physical Suica/PASMO cards (standard and deposit-free tourist variants) have been regularly available again since 2025 after a temporary sales pause, including at the airport. Check the current status with the respective provider (jreast.co.jp/pasmo.co.jp) before you travel, since this has changed more than once.

Forwarding your luggage

Yamato Transport (Takkyubin) counters in every terminal; dropping off by around 10am allows same-day delivery to many Tokyo hotels, otherwise next-morning delivery. Rough order of magnitude for one large suitcase: approx. ¥3,000–3,700 including the airport surcharge.

Taxi stands & fares

At both airports, a small number of unlicensed drivers approach travelers directly in the arrivals area offering seemingly cheap rides, then charge several times the metered fare. Use only official taxi stands with green-plated vehicles.
